A juice made from extracted whole fruits of karela and jamun. Karela is shown in human studies to be supportive in in the management of diabetes control. The effects are more pronounced on fasting glucose. Animal studies have expanded possible effectiveness spectrum of karela. They have hinted towards weight gain preventive, blood lipid lowering abilities of karela fruit. Also there is an indication of karela being useful in the management of non alcoholic fatty liver disease- a modern day potentially serious problem occurring due to excessive fat consumption and which can progress to liver cirrhosis.
Jamun is traditionally used in the North-East India for the control of dysentery. Several clinical studies (those done on humans) have shown usefulness of Jamun as an adjuvant in the management of Type II diabetes. For example, supplementation with jamun powder for 3 months in diabetic patients led to around 30% and 22% reductions in fasting blood glucose and post lunch blood glucose, respectively. Along with these symptoms of diabetes such as fatigue, frequent urination were reduced too. Another human study carried out for 2 months reported blood cholesterol reporting effects of Jamun.
